Annie Jeffs Works of Heart
The Art works that I will be exhibiting are created using a unique process that I have developed using modelling clay in the place of paint, also combining unusual mixed media, which is then sealed with glue. Some of my works are original coming straight from my imagination others are recreations of well-known paintings using the same process. I have created new work for the exhibition, which have custom made solid wooden frames. I will also have some unframed works and cards available for sale. As an artist I prefer to work in creative collaboration with others, I believe that creativity is innate within us all and this is something that needs to be acknowledged and encouraged. I am a strong advocate of recycle and re-use, my focus is mixing new with recycled metal. Taking scrap sterling silver, I melt it down and ether cast it into my designs, or forge into organic shapes. To this I add recycled copper or brass and tiny amounts of recycled gold, these metals giving contrast and colour to my work. I love the process of taking scrap, melting it down to turn it into something beautiful, mixing old with new and tapping into waste as a resource. I am very pleased to be part of this year’s 10 Parishes Festival. I have been making some larger statement pieces to go on display alongside my forged and cast, earrings, rings, and pendants.
My handmade jewellery is all made using traditional hand tools and avoiding harmful chemicals, packaged in recycled boxes.
